Job summary

Adventist Health Portland is seeking an admissions clerk to support the Medical Imaging department. You will perform admitting and clerical duties to facilitate patient scheduling and coordinate film storage and filing.

You will assist radiologists to maintain department throughput and communicate with insurance companies regarding referrals and authorizations, documenting information in the patient record.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred.
• Medical insurance experience: Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Processes managed care referrals and sends to managed care claims department. Checks messages for pended back referrals and corrects information as needed. Responds to patient and/or specialists requests for referrals.
• Communicates patient needs/information to specialist/provider offices. Communicates with insurance companies regarding authorization for referrals. Documents authorization and follow up referral information in computer and patient record as appropriate.
• Opens, processes, and distributes mail daily. Maintains an organized and prioritized workload and responsibility for excellent customer service and patient satisfaction.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education

High School Education/GED or equivalent
