Description

The Mammography Technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care.

This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The Mammography Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.

This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable. It supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

• BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
• Licensed by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).
• Registered American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT).
• Advanced certification from ARRT required within 18 months of passing initial registry or date of hire.

EDUCATION:

• Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required.

EXPERIENCE:

• 1-year diagnostic testing experience preferred.
• Candidates must possess the ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Incumbents within the position will be trained appropriately and skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
• NJDEP State License expires every two years and must be renewed biennially as an essential work requirement.
• ARRT expires on the incumbent’s date of birth and must be renewed annually as an essential work requirement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury, and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation. Position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate and interface with computer-based applications. Position requires extensive pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Radiology Manager and takes direction from the Mammography Supervisor.
