Summary

Conducts all breast-related procedures, including but not limited to: diagnostic breast imaging exams (mammography, ultrasound, needle localizations, stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies). Creates a safe environment that provides radiation protection according to established standards. Maintains oversight for quality control of equipment (may include cross-functional duties in diagnostic imaging). Performs basic clerical duties such as patient registration and appointment scheduling at some sites. Participates in patient education and community outreach activities.

Job Duties

1. Performs quality mammographic images following ACR positioning guidelines and evaluates image quality, making necessary adjustments for optimal results.
2. Confirms patient identification, reviews imaging requests, explains procedures, and provides education to patients.
3. Interacts professionally with team members, promoting a positive work environment.
4. Adheres to hospital and department policies, completes required education modules, and assists with compliance and quality control evaluations.
5. Communicates effectively with care team members and accurately enters information into the EMR.
6. Ensures proper operation of radiology equipment, assists with troubleshooting, repairs, and maintains cleanliness and supplies, taking responsibility for quality control records.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program with specialized diploma and registered Mammography Technologist certification.
• Less than 1 year experience in screening and diagnostic mammography.
• Ability to adapt to change, recognize and solve problems, and communicate effectively with patients.
• Flexibility in work hours and sites.
• RT - Registered Technologist Radiology (PA), CMT - Certified Mammography Tech (PA), and BLS certification within 60 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.

Physical Demands

Lift/carry 25 lbs, frequent sitting/standing, keyboard use, and role-specific activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR.
