Job summary

Grandview Medical Center – Birmingham, AL is seeking a Mammography Technologist I to perform screening and diagnostic mammography procedures with precision and compassion. You will collaborate with Radiologists and the medical team to ensure accurate imaging while maintaining patient comfort and strict adherence to safety standards.

The role requires the ability to educate patients on breast health and procedure expectations, support high-quality imaging, and follow FDA/MQSA and ACR guidelines.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in radiologic imaging
• 2-4 years experience as a mammographer in an acute care hospital setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs mammography imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality screening and diagnostic images through proper positioning, technique, and compression.
• Adheres to safety protocols, radiation protection standards, and infection control guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Ensures equipment functionality and maintenance, performing routine quality control testing per ACR and FDA/MQSA requirements.
• Reviews physician orders and patient history, ensuring all mammography procedures are correctly ordered, verified, and acknowledged.
• Educates patients on breast health, self-exam techniques, and procedure expectations, addressing concerns with professionalism.
• Assists radiologists with specialized mammography procedures, including fine needle aspiration (FNA), needle localizations, and biopsies, while maintaining sterile technique.
• Prepares patients for invasive mammography-guided procedures, providing clear instructions and post-procedure care guidance.Maintains accurate documentation and image storage as required by state, federal, and accreditation regulations.
• Manages mammography inventory and supplies, ensuring cost-effective use and proper stock levels for daily operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
