Job Summary

Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, performs diagnostic Mammographic exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment. Verifies patient identity and reviews patient’s medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure.

Responsibilities

1. Interview patients to obtain, verify or update medical history and assess risk factors such as medications, pregnancy, and psychological indicators.
2. Explain procedures to patients, including side effects, risks, benefits, and follow-up instructions.
3. Set up equipment and acquire images as per script, review images, and communicate findings to radiologist.
4. Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, and provide post-care instructions.
5. Participate in quality improvement activities within radiology practice.
6. Provide imaging education to residents, students, and new employees.
7. May perform duties of a Radiologic Technologist and take call/standby as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography (M).
• Complete AHA Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation.
