Position Summary

The Mammography Technologist performs mammography examinations following ACR requirements, including screening and diagnostic mammography, as well as all related procedures.

Responsibilities

1. Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients professionally and efficiently.
2. Executes all trained mammographic imaging procedures.
3. Provides immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on patient needs, and operates equipment accordingly.
4. Performs bone density procedures as assigned.
5. Ensures correct identification and marking of images, including patient name, MRN, and laterality.
6. Assists with quality control procedures, documenting phantom images, calibration tests, and other QC activities as delegated.
7. Tracks and documents patient follow-ups, breast localizations, biopsy recommendations, and reports.
8. Maintains documentation for quality assurance in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State, and FDA standards.
9. Properly uses the Faxitron system and documents in EMR (EPIC).
10. Adapts care to meet the needs of diverse patient populations, including communication adjustments for age, culture, and impairments.
11. Ensures equipment cleanliness and proper labeling of images.
12. Tracks patient location in EPIC and ensures timely procedures.
13. Recognizes and corrects equipment errors.
14. Performs other duties and projects as assigned, adhering to organizational standards.
15. Physically capable of lifting at least 25 lbs., pushing and pulling 50 lbs., and standing for 6 hours daily.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. High School diploma or GED, with graduation from an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.
2. Must meet ARRT certification requirements and pass the exam.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
4. Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office or Google Suite.

Licenses and Certifications

1. NJ State license for Diagnostic Radiology.
2. ARRT certification (M).
3. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire.
