Job summary

Wellstar Cobb Breast and X-Ray Center is seeking a Mammography Technologist on a part-time basis to provide safe, high-quality imaging and patient support. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure accurate imaging, patient comfort, and timely documentation.

The role requires ARRT credentials with mammography experience, strong patient communication, and adherence to safety protocols in a fast-paced hospital setting. Wellstar supports education and career growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
• Minimum 1 year of mammography experience in a hospital.
• ARRT-R (Radiography); ARRT-M (Mammography); BLS (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly (AIDET) to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Use sound clinical judgment, clarify unclear orders, and assist in emergencies or across imaging areas when needed.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimize dose and technique, and keep equipment clean and ready per infection control guidelines.
• Perform and document required QC tests including Phantom, Visual Checklist, Repeat Analysis, and others.
• Ensure all images are accurately labeled, oriented, and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture for procedures.
• Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked; apply shielding and immobilization devices appropriately.
• Provide clear pre- and post-exam instructions, address questions or elevate to providers, and support training of new team members.
• Maintain concise documentation; stay current with emails and required education.
• Communicate professionally in a fast-paced team; bring strong skills in anatomy, pathology, positioning, radiation safety, and mammography best practices.
