Qualifications

• Specialized diploma or ARRT Radiology registrant.
• Knowledge of mammographic imaging techniques for breast screening/diagnosis.
• 40 hours of Mammo-specific training for those qualifying after 1999; Digital Mammography training.
• BLS certification.
• RT registered radiologic technologist (ARRT) required.

Responsibilities

• Operate mammography equipment to produce radiographs for screening and diagnostic purposes.
• Ensure proper patient positioning and breast compression; explain procedures to patients.
• Maintain radiation safety; document procedures and patient history.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment; coordinate with lead technologist.
• Pursue continuing education to maintain licenses and certifications.
