Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Mammographer to join our radiology team at Medstar Washington Hospital Center and Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. The role involves performing mammography and supporting diagnostic procedures, with a focus on patient care and quality imaging.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.
• MQSA/FDA qualifications for performing mammography exams required.
• ARRT registered (M) within 120 days.
• CPR/BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs all forms of mammography imaging. Assists physicians in diagnostic procedures such as ductograms, stereotactic core biopsy, breast localization and breast ultrasounds. Explains procedures, screens, prepares, and positions patients for examination.
• Performs examinations according to department protocols and adjusts equipment to ensure satisfactory images. Performs image photography and film processing. Reviews and evaluates completed examinations for quality and completeness.
• Reviews diagnostic cases including patient history with Radiologist. Verifies all examinations performed utilizing MARS information system.
• Prepares, arranges, and stocks room for next procedure. Ensures supply levels are adequate in assigned area. Communicates with appropriate individuals when inventory is depleted.
• Assists with the training and orientation of new employees and students. Collects quality control data for managers, such as film usage, equipment problems, etc. Schedules, logs, and redirects patients as required.
