Qualifications

Job description

Under supervision of a radiologist and direction of the department leadership, competently performs imaging on all digital mammography equipment and assists in stereotactic biopsies. Responsible for radiographing and adhering to imaging protocols in mammography. Must have the ability to recognize digital anatomy. Responsible for general MQSA compliance under the guidance of the lead technologist. Ensures service excellence and compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Uses RIS/PACS and HIS systems for proper recording of patient exams and dissemination of results.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Completion of an approved and accredited Radiology Technology program
3. Recent hospital-related experience (up to one year)
4. Experience with Digital Imaging and PACS post-processing

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Current Vt. state RT license
• Mammography certification by ARRT* (or obtained within one year of hire)
• Bone Density certification by AART** (or obtained within one year of start of training)
• BLS Certification through the American Heart Association

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Ability to provide care considering physical and psychosocial development and safety issues for patients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Proficiency in Needle localization and Breast biopsy procedures
• Competency in Sterile Technique and Time-Out procedures
• Basic skills in Microsoft Windows desktop applications and navigation
