Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Mammography Technologist in the Radiology department. The role involves performing mammography imaging, ensuring image quality and patient safety in a full-time Monday–Friday schedule at the Zephyrhills location.

Ideal candidates will have a radiologic technology degree, Florida licensure, ARRT certification, and CME requirements compliant with MQSA. The position emphasizes patient care, safety, and accurate documentation in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must have and maintain CME points as mandated by MQSA.
  • Valid Florida state license.
  • Valid ARRT certification.
  • BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mammography imaging to produce high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Adhere to radiation safety principles to minimize exposure.
  • Verify patient identity and document clinical history accurately.
  • Utilize RIS to show arrival/completion of exams and ensure correct coding.

Position Summary

Provides quality patient care when performing mammography imaging services and related procedures by applying x-ray energy to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles.

Qualifications
Essential Functions
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Complies with FDA and MQSA regulatory requirements.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
  • Assessesthe patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors, to achieve desired high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, patient identification, and ensures that all breast anatomy is demonstrated according to MQSA/ACR guidelines.
  • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Requires utilization of Radiology Information System to accurately show arrival and completion of exams, correct coding of procedures done, and retrieval of reports.
  • Utilizes sterile technique for sterile procedures in accordance with OH policy and training. Administers medical aid as required for any emergency.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines and education requirements.

Education/Training
