Job Description
Operates mammography radiographic equipment; positions patients, processes images, maintains and cleans equipment. Performs various diagnostic x-ray exams. Maintains required documentation.
Job Responsibilities

- Communicates with patients throughout visits and provides follow-up information upon release.

- Positions patients in mammography machines and adjusts immobilization devices for optimal imaging.
- Adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Practices radiation safety to minimize exposure, maintaining a clean and organized work environment per OSHA guidelines.
- Manages mammography exams at scheduled intervals.
- Ensures cleanliness of equipment and room daily.
- Reviews departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs quality control functions as needed.
- Prepares rooms for interventional procedures.
- Assists with interventional procedures following proper training, including stereotactic, ultrasound-guided, needle localization, and galactography.
- Follows radiation safety protocols to maintain ALARA standards.
- Proficient in RIS and PACS systems, verifying image transfers.
- Interfaces effectively with patients, staff, and physicians to enhance patient experience and satisfaction.
- Infection Control:
- Follows department procedures for cleaning and disinfecting equipment.
- Keeps work areas neat and sterile during procedures.
- Supplemental Duties:
- Maintains inventory of supplies.
- Provides training to colleagues and students.
- Coordinates equipment maintenance.
- Performs related duties as required.

Physical Demands:
- Standing, walking, positioning; frequent stooping, bending, stretching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and turning.
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
- NY State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
- ARRT registration in mammography.
- Minimum two years of mammography experience.
