Job description

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Mammography Technologist - Brooklyn.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for performing medically prescribed diagnostic mammographic and bone density procedures. Monitors and reviews the work of the staff, assists in the supervision of the technical and support staff, and facilitates patient flow through the Breast Imaging Center. Works under general direction.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital and radiology information systems related to radiology. Selects appropriate patient information from HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Accesses patient information; schedules exams; manages appointment times, exam types, and patient reports. Follows departmental HIS/RIS procedures to verify and process orders correctly. Effectively assesses patient information and status, following appropriate procedures. Uses standard procedures to identify the correct patient. Reviews requisitions and understands the required exam, consulting with medical staff as needed.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned.
  3. Demonstrates skill in equipment setup, utilization, and maintenance. Performs visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment. Uses imaging and peripheral equipment safely and effectively, reporting malfunctions or damages.
  4. Independently implements patient procedures following departmental protocols. Explains procedures and equipment to patients clearly. Solves problems during examinations using technical knowledge and innovation. Adjusts examinations to maximize information based on patient condition. Consults with other technologists on previous approaches.
  5. Follows accepted radiologic procedures, determines protocol based on medical information, and adheres to policies and special instructions. Recognizes and follows isolation precautions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and New York State license to practice Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • ARRT Advanced Certification in Mammography.
  • Five years of radiology experience.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • College degree.
  • Two years of experience in Mammographic and quality control procedures preferred.

Qualified candidates must communicate effectively with all organizational levels.

The salary range for this role is $98,320-$109,660 annually, depending on experience, education, and hospital needs. This range does not include bonuses or additional compensation.
