Job summary

Texas Health Mansfield is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform high-quality breast imaging and support the breast center's accreditation and QA efforts. You will coordinate with radiologists and staff to ensure accurate results and patient safety.

The role requires experience in stereotactic biopsies, needle localizations, and strict adherence to MQSA/ACR guidelines, with a focus on compassionate patient care in a busy breast imaging suite.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Mammography procedures and positions is required.
• Ability to determine appropriate technical factors and settings.
• Familiar with MQSA and ACR regulations governing mammography.
• Ability to review prior images and identify areas of interest.
• Experience with needle localizations, stereotactic core biopsies, and seed implants.

Responsibilities

• Perform and optimize mammography exams per orders and protocols.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and safe equipment.
• Collaborate with radiologists and breast imaging team for results.
• Support accreditation activities and quality improvement efforts.
• Ensure patient safety, consent, and comfort during procedures.
• Document accurately in EMR and PACS; follow QC checks.

Job Description:

Part Time, 24 hours week

7am-7pm

Thursdays & Fridays, occasional Saturdays

Position will move to Full Time, 36 hours/week in Fall 2026

• Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.


• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.


• Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.


• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.


• Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.


• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.


• Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.


• Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.


• Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.


• Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.


• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is lowPerforms and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Mammography procedures and positions [Required]


• Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]


• Knowledge of Mammography equipment and the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and American College of Radiology (ACR) regulations [Required]


• Ability to review prior images/films and distinguish area of interest [Required]


• Ability to perform needle localizations, stereotactic core biopsies, and seed implants [Required]


• Ability to train other Mammography Technologists in special procedures [Required]


• Ability to work well with radiologists, nursing and surgical staff [Required]


• Ability to assist with ACR accreditation of special procedures equipment and evaluations [Required]


• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English [Required]


• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]


• Good organization skills [Preferred]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equivalent [Required]


• Associate [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 1+ years' experience in Mammography [Required]


• 1+ years' experience performing stereotactic core biopsies [Required]


• 1+ years' experience performing breast needle localizations [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• Registered Radiology Technologist RT(R)(ARRT) [Required]


• Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) [Required]
