Job description

Position Title

Mammography Technologist Westwood Medical Pavilion - West

Position Summary / Career Interest: The Mammography Tech involves direct patient care with all mammography procedures: screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast stereotactic biopsies, needle localizations, and other interventional procedures related to the breast. The mammographer must be current with all credentials, continuing education, CPR, and compliant with all ACR, MQSA/FDA requirements. The mammographer must also be proficient in several computer-based software programs and able to assist clerical and nursing staff within the scope of breast imaging practice.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  1. Acts as a mentor and trainer to new employees and assists clerical and nursing staff as needed.
  2. Assists with duties associated with contacting and following up with patients, tracking critical information for performance improvement, and ensuring that the reporting radiologist has all necessary information. Also knowledgeable in patient education of all breast center exams and procedures.
  3. Demonstrates ability to provide care/service safely and efficiently for each patient.
  4. Knowledgeable and capable of performing mandatory MQSA/FDA and ACR regulations and requirements.
  5. Responsible for keeping all licensing and credentialing, including CPR, up to date. Failure to do so could result in disciplinary action and/or termination.
  6. Responsible for completing mandatory educational assignments as provided by supervisor or senior supervisor.
  7. Maintains a clean and safe work environment, completes PSN when needed, and ensures proper hand washing and sterile techniques when applicable.
  8. May be called upon to assist other medical staff with patient support.
  9. Performs all aspects of direct patient care while performing all breast imaging exams and procedures.
  10. Prepares reports, correspondence, and departmental materials using a variety of office equipment and software programs; competent with breast imaging and hospital computer programs.
  11. Uses breast imaging equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines.
  12. Performs the professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  13. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 1 or more years of experience in Mammography
Required Licensure and Certification
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Mammography (M) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Image Wisely Pledge - American College of Radiology (ACR) volume competencies
Knowledge Requirements
  • 3D Tomosynthesis training
  • Stereo
