Under the supervision of the Radiologist and the manager, the mammography technologist performs imaging to assist in diagnosing diseases and injuries. Responsibilities include screening and diagnostic imaging, guided procedures, specimen imaging, and bone density scanning, adhering to American College of Radiology’s criteria and protocols developed with physician input. The role involves maintaining competencies, ensuring quality procedures, documenting accurately in the EMR, collaborating with interdepartmental teams, and managing equipment and safety standards. The technologist also participates in patient care, infection control, education, and staff orientation. Travel to additional sites may be required. Mammography certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment, and ongoing education and licensure are mandatory.
