A Mammography Technician performs specialized radiographic imaging of the breast to assist physicians in detecting and diagnosing breast diseases, including Breast Cancer. The technician operates mammography equipment, ensures high-quality images, maintains patient safety, and provides compassionate care to patients undergoing screening or diagnostic procedures.
Perform screening and diagnostic mammography procedures according to physician orders and imaging protocols.
Position patients correctly to obtain clear, accurate mammographic images.
Operate and maintain mammography imaging equipment safely and efficiently.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and radiation protection guidelines.
Prepare patients for procedures and explain the imaging process to reduce anxiety.
Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation.
Ensure images meet quality standards before submitting them to radiologists for interpretation.
Assist radiologists during additional imaging procedures when necessary.
Follow infection control, patient privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in quality assurance and equipment calibration processes.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
Certification in Radiography from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Mammography certification or advanced qualification in Mammography (ARRT‑M).
State licensure where required.
