Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a certified Radiologic Technologist with mammography expertise for a PRN Day shift in Shawnee Mission, KS. You will perform high-quality mammo exams, ensure patient safety, and document results in EMR/PACS while following MQSA, FDA and ACR guidelines.

Responsibilities include image optimization, equipment QC, inventory checks, and collaboration with radiologists to communicate next steps.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivaliv (Required).
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS).
• RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement.
• Certified Radiologic Technologist (R.T.-CERT).
• DSPS-LIC licensed by the state.
• KBMIRT — Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
• L.R.T. — Kansas State Board of Healing Arts licensed Radiology Technologist.
• MRT-IEMA — Medical Radiation Technology (IEMA).
• MRT — Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT).
• ARRT — Registered Mammographer RT(R)(M)(ARRT).

Responsibilities

• Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
• Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the EMR and PACS systems.
• Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Performs and documents daily system QC checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
• Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
• Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
• Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
• Other duties as assigned.
