Job summary

Vail Health is seeking a breast imaging technologist to perform mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and assist with ultrasound biopsy, following MQSA and ACR guidelines. This PRN/as-needed role offers a 16% PRN differential and requires ARRT Mammography, BLS, and strong English communication.

You will be responsible for ensuring accurate requisitions, operating Mammography and stereotactic equipment, performing quality control, coordinating patient care, scheduling exams,

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience preferred. Experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
  • Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of breast anatomy, pathological conditions and safe administration of radiation.
  • Identify and review patient’s requisition for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information for the physician and patient.
  • Work with Mammography and stereotactic equipment, examinations, and protocols, as well as procedures that require contrast agents and sterile techniques; conduct and document quality control ensuring equipment is within safe limits per MQSA and ACR guidelines.
  • Clearly communicate and educate patients prior to, during, and after breast imaging procedures to guide patients and loved ones to the next step of their breast health coordinating the continuity of care.
  • Review and perform breast imaging examinations for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to the radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • May perform radiographic examinations according to Vail Health protocol.
  • Routinely schedule breast imaging appointments and assist in coordinating exams to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.
  • Assist with the management of workflow of the department to ensure completion of work and proper patient charge.
  • Organize, monitor, and order medical supply inventory to assure cost effective departmental spending; act as a team player for department success.
  • Promote breast health education by assisting in organizational promotional/educational events.
  • Participate in orientation of new employees and healthcare professionals; maintain 24 CEU credits every two years and CPR certification.
  • Model the principals of a Just Culture and Organizational Values; perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

About the opportunity

Performs breast imaging procedures including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and (assist) breast ultrasound biopsy. Follows MQSA and ACR guidelines for breast imaging.

This position is PRN or as needed. Eligible for 16% PRN Differential.

Experience

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with Mammography (M) required.
Certification(s)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job‑specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
