Job summary

Vail Health is seeking a PRN Mammography Technologist to perform breast imaging exams, including mammography, ABUS, and stereotactic biopsy, following MQSA and ACR guidelines.

This role supports coverage during vacations and peak volumes, offers a 16% PRN differential, and requires ARRT Mammography (M) and BLS, plus strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • ARRT Mammography (M) certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform breast imaging exams including mammography, ABUS, and stereotactic biopsy.
  • Review requisitions for consistency with clinical diagnosis and verify patient information.
  • Operate and maintain mammography equipment and follow MQSA/ACR guidelines.
  • Document quality control and ensure equipment is within safe limits.
  • Coordinate patient care and educate patients before, during, and after imaging.
  • Present completed exams to radiologist and relay data to care team.
  • Assist workflow management to ensure timely patient care.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient privacy.

About the opportunity

Performs breast imaging exams including mammography, ABUS, stereotactic breast biopsy, and (assist) breast ultrasound biopsy. Follow MQSA and ACR guidelines for breast imaging.

This PRN Mammography Technologist position is intended to provide coverage during employee vacations and periods of increased patient volume, ensuring continuous and efficient departmental operations.

Eligible for 16% PRN Differential

What you will do
  • Demonstrate knowledge of breast anatomy, pathological conditions, and safe administration of radiation.
  • Identify and review patient's requisition for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and confirm patient and physician demographic information.
  • Working knowledge of all Mammography and stereotactic equipment, examinations, and protocols, as well as procedures that require the use of contrast agents and sterile techniques.
  • Conduct and document quality control ensuring equipment is within safe limits per MQSA and ACR guidelines.
  • To guide patients and loved ones to the next step of their breast health, coordinate continuity of care by clearly communicating and educating patients prior to, during, and after breast imaging procedures.
  • Review and perform breast imaging examinations for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to the radiologist, and communicate pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Assists with the management of the workflow of the department to ensure the completion of work assignments and proper patient care.
  • Monitor, medical supply inventory and inform Supervisor of any needs
  • Acts as a team player to assist in the overall success of the department.
  • Role models the principals of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need
Experience
  • 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience in Diagnostic mammography, Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS), and Stereotactic biopsy is preferred but not required.
License(s)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with Mammography (M) required.
Certification(s)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Computer / Typing
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
