Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a Mammography Technologist for a part-time role in Burlington, VT. You will position patients, operate digital mammography equipment, and ensure high-quality images while following MQSA/ACR standards and safety protocols.

Collaborate with radiologists and care teams to deliver compassionate patient care; maintain documentation in EMR/PACS and participate in QA activities within a learning-focused health system.

Qualifications

  • ARRT Radiography (R) certification is required.
  • ARRT Mammography (M) certification preferred or to be obtained within specified timeframe.
  • Valid state radiologic technologist license as applicable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms following protocols.
  • Position patients and ensure comfort and safety during procedures.
  • Operate and troubleshoot digital mammography equipment and imaging systems.
  • Adhere to radiation safety and MQSA/ACR standards.

Job description

The University of Vermont Health Network seeks a Mammography Technologist to perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammograms in a collaborative, academic health system. In this part-time role, you will position patients, operate digital mammography equipment, ensure image quality, and follow radiation safety and MQSA/ACR standards. You’ll work closely with radiologists and care teams, support patients through compassionate communication, maintain accurate documentation in PACS/EMR, and contribute to quality improvement in a learning-focused, patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammograms following established protocols
  • Accurately position and prepare patients, explaining procedures and ensuring comfort and safety
  • Operate and troubleshoot digital mammography equipment and related imaging systems
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and infection control policies
  • Evaluate image quality and collaborate with radiologists for additional views as needed
  • Document procedures and patient information in PACS/RIS and EMR systems
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies in a clean, ready state
  • Support quality assurance activities and compliance with ACR/MQSA standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
  • Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care to diverse patient populations
  • Digital mammography imaging
  • Patient positioning and compression techniques
  • Radiation safety and ALARA principles
  • Operation of mammography units and ancillary equipment
