Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management is seeking a Mammography team member responsible for performing mammography testing and high‑quality imaging. You will follow MQSA standards, maintain ALARA guidelines, and support accurate patient outcomes tracking while assisting radiologists and educating staff.

The role emphasizes independent work, licensure maintenance, and adherence to HIPAA privacy rules. You will contribute to department readiness and patient safety in a fast‑paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of MQSA, required QC procedures, and required patient outcomes tracking.
• Able to perform all applicable equipment quality control.
• Maintains licensure and continuing education requirements.
• Must demonstrate the ability to work independently.
• Proficient at instructing students and new staff members after 1 year experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs mammography testing and procedures for patients.
• Performs quality mammograms following prescribed techniques, with minimal radiation exposure to patients and self.
• Supports following hospital and department policies and protocols.
• Assists radiologists as needed.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (HIPAA) and facility policies.
• Uses administrative skills to contribute to the successful operation of the department by entering and completing correct billing codes in the RIS and on patient billing sheets.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

By joining the mammography team, you will perform examinations to help detect and diagnose breast disease, including breast cancer. You will have the opportunity to educate patients on procedures, properly position patients to obtain accurate images, and follow established imaging and radiation safety protocols. Working collaborating with healthcare professionals, you will help with early detection and diagnosis.

What You Will Do

• Performs mammography testing and procedures for patients.

• Assists radiologists as needed.

• Takes responsibility for self-development and supports learning environment.
• Provides age-specific care to neonates through geriatrics.
• Consistently follows hospital and department guidelines for patient identification and safety.
• Adheres to ALARA, Image Gently and Image Wisely standards
• Adheres to hospital mammography safety standards
• Effectively follows directions to maintain compliance with State and Federal Agencies.
• Effectively follows directions to maintain department readiness based on DNV standards.

Additional Responsibilities

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace
