Job summary

University Hospitals in Ohio is seeking a Mammographer who will perform mammography procedures, educate patients on the process, and ensure strict adherence to MQSA standards and safety protocols. You will collaborate with radiologists, maintain patient privacy, and support department readiness daily.

The role requires an accredited radiologic program, ARRT-M and Ohio licensure on hire, plus experience teaching staff or students. A strong commitment to ALARA and safety is essential.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited 2-year program in Radiologic Technology is required.
  • 1+ years Registered X-ray technologist experience preferred; ARRT-M and Ohio license required upon hire.
  • Knowledge of MQSA standards and QC procedures is required.
  • Ability to teach students and new staff after 1 year of experience.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot modality equipment is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mammography testing and procedures for patients.
  • Delivers quality mammograms with minimal radiation exposure.
  • Maintains patient privacy and adheres to HIPAA rules.
  • Records all required database/log records accurately.

By joining the mammographyteam,you will perform examinations to help detect and diagnose breast disease, including breast cancer. You will have the opportunity to educate patients on procedures, properly position patients to obtainaccurateimages, and follow established imaging and radiation safety protocols.Workingcollaboratingwith healthcareprofessionals,you will help with early detection and diagnosis.

What You Will Do
  • Performs mammography testing and proceduresforpatients.
  • Performs quality mammograms following prescribed techniques, with minimal radiation exposure topatientsand self.
  • Knowledge of MQSA,requiredQCprocedures,andrequiredpatient outcomes tracking.
  • Able to perform all applicable equipment quality control.
  • Accurately records all requested database / log records
  • Assistsradiologists as needed.
  • Consistently follows hospital and department policies and protocols,
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentialityin accordance withprivacy laws (HIPPA) and facility policies.
  • Takes responsibility forself-developmentand supports learning environment.
  • Provides age-specific care to neonates through geriatrics.
  • Consistently follows hospital and department guidelines for patient identification and safety.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Uses administrative skills to contribute to the successful operation of the department by entering and completing correct billing codes in the RIS and on patient billing sheets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complieswithall policies and standards.

  • Must abide by all requirements tosafely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI)for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to addressappropriate useof PHI in the workplace.
Education Qualifications
  • Other Accredited Program: Completion of an accredited 2-year program in a school of Radiologic Technology (Required)
Experience Qualifications
  • 1+ years Registered X-ray technologist with at least one year experience preferred (Preferred)
  • 1+ years Registered Mammography technologist with less than two years of experience (Required)
  • 1+ years Proficient at instructing students andnew staffafter oneyearexperience (Required)
  • less than1-yearClear knowledge of modality specific equipment computers, pacs , EMR and RIS (Required)
  • less than 1 year Mustdemonstrateability to work independently (Required)
  • less than 1 year Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise (Required)
  • less than 1 year Clear knowledge of imaging and exam protocols (Required)
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of X-Ray unit , computers,wheelchairs, O2 tanks, immobilization devices, PACS and radiology information system . (Requiredproficiency)
  • Ability tooperatemammography equipment. (Requiredproficiency)
  • Knowledge of QC and MQSA standards. (Requiredproficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Technologist Radiography (ARRT-R) (Required Upon Hire) and
  • Current License State of Ohio (Required Upon Hire) and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire) and
  • Registered Technologist Mammography (ARRT-M) (Required within 1 Year)
