Job summary

Georgia Aquarium is seeking an experienced animal care specialist responsible for the daily care and behavioral conditioning of the Mammal & Bird collection. You will contribute to daily presentations, guest interactions, diet preparation, enrichment, and record keeping.

Supervisors guide training, safety, and program development to ensure high standards of care and guest experience. Qualifications include a four-year biology-related degree, two years of aquatic husbandry experience, SCUBA

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in biology or related field.
• Two years of aquatic animal husbandry and training experience preferred.
• AZA/AMMPA accreditation experience a plus.
• SCUBA certification required.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license and passport.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Executes daily care and behavioral conditioning of Mammals & Birds.
• Trains Mammal & Bird collection under supervision of Senior Trainers.
• Develops animal training goals and enrichment to enhance care and guest experience.
• Maintains daily health, care, and welfare of the Mammal & Bird collection.
• Represents Georgia Aquarium with guests and crew in a professional manner.
• Performs underwater maintenance and cleaning of habitats; adheres to safety guidelines.
• Maintains records and data in management systems for inventory, care, training, and enrichment.
• Assists with interns and volunteers and supports public programs.
