Job summary

Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta seeks a Trainer for Animal Training - Mammals & Birds to oversee daily care and behavioral conditioning of its Mammal & Bird collection. The role focuses on presentations, guest interactions, and program support, with duties including diet prep, enrichment, and record keeping.

Under Senior Trainers and management, you will help advance training goals, develop new enrichment activities, and maintain high standards of safety and care; travel and underwater activities

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in biology or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum two years of aquatic animal husbandry and training with marine mammals/birds.
• Knowledge of contemporary animal training techniques.
• Working knowledge of life support operation and water quality control for marine habitats.
• Strong teamwork skills and professional communication.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily care and behavioral conditioning of Mammals & Birds.
• Train Mammal & Bird collection under supervision to support presentations and guest programs.
• Develop and implement training projects to enhance animal care and guest experience.
• Maintain health, welfare, and records for the Mammal & Bird collection.
• Perform environmental enrichment and ensure SOPs are followed.
