Job summary

Muhlenberg County Public Libraries is seeking a Part-Time Makerspace Associate to deliver outstanding customer service and help maintain an organized makerspace. You will assist patrons with 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and audiovisual equipment while keeping materials properly shelved.

The role requires reliable, friendly individuals with strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency. Some evenings/weekends and travel between library locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required / equivalent work experience.
• Some college coursework or relevant experience preferred.
• Must pass background check; drug screen may be requested.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving history.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Ability to work well with others and in a team environment.
• Proficiency with computers, typing, Microsoft Office, email, and internet apps.
• Basic computer troubleshooting and maintenance skills are required.
• Experience with makerspace equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, AV equipment).
• Knowledge/experience with small engine equipment (lawn/garden) preferred.
• Ability to operate office equipment (phone, copier, AV equipment).
• Ability to handle financial transactions (making change, payments, recording transactions).
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist patrons.
• Help with organization and circulation of library materials.
• Operate and maintain makerspace equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, AV gear).
• Assist with basic computer assistance and troubleshooting.
