William & Mary seeks a Makerspace Engineer to support operation, maintenance, and growth of the university's makerspaces within the Integrated Science Center. You will deliver workshops, mentor student engineers, and collaborate with faculty to advance innovation and experiential learning.

The role requires strong technical skills in digital fabrication or machine shop operations with a commitment to teaching a diverse academic community and enforcing safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment such as CNC routers/mills, laser cutters, 3D printers, or welding equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and ability to enforce safety procedures.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring students or staff in safe use of equipment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
  • Preferred: university makerspace or fabrication lab experience and supervising student employees.

Responsibilities

  • Supports operation, maintenance, and growth of the university makerspaces.
  • Delivers workshops and mentors student engineers in hands-on fabrication.
  • Collaborates with faculty and students to advance innovation and experiential learning.
  • Provides technical expertise and promotes safe, effective use of equipment.
