Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance, equipment support, and customer service while maintaining a safe, innovative maker space.
  • Work with students, entrepreneurs, faculty, staff, and community members to support projects and business development.
  • Offer one-on-one instruction and small-group training on makerspace equipment and software.
  • Develop and update equipment training materials and instructional resources.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and perform basic upkeep on makerspace equipment.
  • Teach safe operating procedures and promote best practices for equipment use.
  • Support prototyping, product development, fabrication, and creative projects.
  • Give tours of the facility and educate visitors about resources and services.
  • Assist with workshops, demonstrations, events, and outreach activities.
  • Support marketing through community engagement and promotions.
  • Collaborate with faculty to improve services and workflows.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, professional makerspace.

What You'll Do

As a Part-Time Maker Space Service Technician, you'll provide technical assistance, equipment support, and exceptional customer service while helping maintain a safe, innovative, and welcoming maker space. You'll work closely with students, entrepreneurs, faculty, staff, and community members to support creative projects and business development.


In this role, you will:



  • Assist students, entrepreneurs, businesses, and community members with projects, equipment, and technical questions.

  • Provide one-on-one instruction and small-group training on makerspace equipment and software.

  • Develop and update equipment training materials and instructional resources.

  • Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and perform basic upkeep on makerspace equipment.

  • Teach safe operating procedures and promote best practices for equipment use.

  • Support prototyping, product development, fabrication, and creative projects.

  • Give tours of the facility and educate visitors about available resources and services.

  • Assist with workshops, demonstrations, community events, and outreach activities.

  • Support marketing efforts through community engagement, social media, and promotional events.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to improve services, workflows, and the customer experience.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional makerspace environment.

  • Recommend improvements to equipment, processes, and facility operations.

  • Support the Bridgerland Entrepreneurship Center's mission of helping innovators and businesses grow.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred qualifications include:



  • Experience with makerspace equipment such as 3D printers, CNC routers, laser engravers, vinyl cutters, sublimation printers, sewing machines, or similar fabrication tools.

  • Experience with audio/video equipment, podcast studios, photography, lighting, or multimedia production.

  • Experience using design and manufacturing software such as Fusion 360, Blender, Adobe Creative Cloud, VCarve Pro, MeshMixer, CAD software, or related applications.

  • Experience providing technical support, training, instruction, or customer service.

  • Marketing, social media, or community outreach experience.

  • A passion for innovation, entrepreneurship, and continuous learning.
