Job summary

MGC Leasing & Property Management is a family-run company managing residential rental properties in the Kansas City area. We’re seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform make-readies and ongoing maintenance across our properties, focusing on quality and safety.

The role requires 3+ years in residential maintenance, strong knowledge of plumbing/electrical/HVAC, and the ability to work in occupied and vacant units. A valid driver’s license is needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in multi-family/apartment maintenance (make-ready experience preferred).
• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and basic carpentry.
• Ability to diagnose problems and know when to escalate to a vendor.
• Comfort with lifting and working in occupied/vacant units.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC/EPA certification is a plus.
• Reliable, organized, able to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient with multiple forms of technology and software

Responsibilities

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Maintenance Technician who can perform make-readies and day-to-day general maintenance across our residential properties in the Kansas City Metro. This is a practical, quality-focused role.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct move-out inspections to assess unit condition, identify needed repairs, and determine the scope of make‑ready work.
• Complete make-ready work on vacant units (painting, drywall, flooring, appliances, fixtures, etc.) so units are move-in ready on schedule.
• Diagnose and repair common issues: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, appliances, and general maintenance.
• Complete assigned work orders accurately and on time.
• Assist with preventive maintenance, grounds, and common‑area upkeep as needed.
• Communicate clearly with property managers and teammates on status, issues, and materials needed.
• Follow safety standards and company quality expectations.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of multi‑family, apartment, or residential maintenance experience (make‑ready experience strongly preferred).
• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and basic carpentry.
• Ability to diagnose problems and decide when a specialist/vendor is needed.
• Comfortable using tools, lifting/moving materials, and working in occupied and vacant units.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC/EPA certification a plus.
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to utilize multiple forms of technology and understand multiple forms of software
