Job summary

Vistra Nuclear Operations Company in Oak Harbor, OH, seeks a senior I&C and digital engineering leader to drive the I&C and Digital scope of Power Uprate projects, ensuring safe, compliant design, modification, and testing that integrates into plant infrastructure.

You will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with EPCs, OEMs, and site engineering to maintain NRC/INPO/IEEE/NERC compliance, support regulatory submittals, and enhance operability and reliability across the fleet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 10+ years of nuclear engineering experience; 5+ years in electrical systems design or major projects.
• Experience with Extended Power Uprates, electrical upgrades, switchyard/grid integration, or $1B+ projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead I&C and Digital scope for EPU projects, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
• Direct and review I&C and Digital system designs, ensuring compliance with IEEE, NRC, NERC, and fleet standards.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and site engineering to ensure compatibility and constructability of I&C and Digital modifications.
• Support Owner’s Engineer and independent reviews to validate design quality, operability, and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership for resolving I&C and Digital issues to maintain project and outage milestones.
• Ensure I&C and Digital designs support long-term operability and integration into the fleet’s systems.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the I&C and Digital scope for EPU projects, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
• Direct and review I&C and Digital system designs, ensuring compliance with IEEE, NRC, NERC, and fleet standards.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and site engineering to ensure compatibility and constructability of I&C and Digital modifications.
• Support Owner’s Engineer and independent reviews to validate design quality, operability, and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership for resolving I&C and Digital issues to maintain project and outage milestones.
• Ensure I&C and Digital designs support long-term operability, maintainability, and integration into the fleet’s systems.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering discipline preferred
• 10+ years of nuclear engineering experience, with 5+ years in electrical systems design, modification, or major projects.
• Direct experience with Extended Power Uprates, electrical upgrades, switchyard/grid integration, or equivalent $1B+ projects.
• Strong knowledge of NRC, INPO, IEEE, NERC, and ANSI codes and standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead electrical engineering teams and coordinate with EPCs, OEMs, and site operations.
• Experience supporting regulatory submittals and addressing NRC/INPO or NERC compliance questions preferred

• On-time delivery of electrical design milestones.
• Compliance with NRC, INPO, IEEE, and NERC standards.
• Minimal corrective actions from audits and reviews.
• Strong coordination with EPCs, OEMs, and site engineering.
• Reliable integration of electrical systems into plant operations.
• Successful completion of independent reviews with minimal corrective actions.
• Effective coordination between Project Leadership site engineering, Owner’s Engineer, and third parties.
