Job summary

Aggreko plc is recruiting a Major Project Travel Technician 1- Power Generator, home-based in the United States with up to 75% travel. You will install, commission, service and repair generators, engines, HVAC, and electrical distribution equipment on diverse projects from events to refineries.

You are a home-based technician with extensive field experience, familiar with schematics, safety regulations, and remote operations coordination.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience working on power generators, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Experience with electrical generating systems and safety standards.
• Knowledge using metering instruments such as meters (multimeters, ammeters) and hygrometers.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and repair Aggreko generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and/or OFA systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures on Major Projects and in service centers; compute nominal and real kW/tonnage requirements.
• Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Interface with a remote operations center to prevent failures and design proactive notifications.

Bring your energy to Aggreko as a Major Project Travel Technician 1- Power Generator based in any US city.

What you’ll do:

• You will be part of an elite technician team that will work on a wide range of projects from large events, to assisting Utilities customers or being part of a turnaround team in a refinery.

• Install, commission, service and repair Aggreko generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and/or OFA systems.

• Troubleshoot equipment failures both on Major Projects and in service centers. Utilize mathematical formulas to calculate both nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements.

• Read and comprehend electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.

• Maintain thorough knowledge of, practice, and promote safe working conditions in accordance with OSHA, EPA and other required regulations dealing with safe operation of all equipment.

• Interface with a remote operations center to prevent failures, help design proactive notification to avoid failures and compliance

• Home-based opportunity located in any US city with a major airport, with up to 75% travel

• Pay Range $30.00-$44.00 an hour with a $2.50/hr. travel allowance, annual bonus program

Here’s what you'll get:

• High school diploma/GED

• 8+ years' experience working on power generators, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs

• Electrical Generating System Association technician or other various certifications are a plus but not required.

• Knowledge using metering and instruments such as multi-meter’s, amp meters, and Hygrometers

• Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card, valid driver’s license

• Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

• Availability to work the assignedschedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be onstandbyfor work outside of regularly scheduledshifts

• Must be able to stand,walkand sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrainwith functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices

• Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that willpermitwork to be safely performed from ground / floor level tofull overhead level

• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items,functional hand-eye coordination, andfunctionally grip with adequate strength to safelyhold tools and stair railing or ladders

• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs), push/pull (80 lbs), carry (60 lbs), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs), stoop, kneel and squat
