Job summary

Oberlin College is seeking a Major Gifts Officer / Associate Major Gifts Officer to join the Office of Advancement. This role is full-time, 12-month, reporting to the AVP for Major and Planned Giving, with responsibilities spanning discovery visits, donor engagement, and major gift development.

Responsibilities include building a robust major gifts pipeline, coordinating with various fundraising teams, and contributing to long-range strategic plans for leadership annual giving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience in fundraising or a related field.
• Strong written and oral communications to engage diverse alumni, donors, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically while managing donor relations and giving programs.
• Ability to travel nationally to meet with donors and attend events as needed.
• Proven track record in developing and soliciting major gifts and building a robust donor pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Conduct discovery visits and collaborate with major and planned giving, parent and family giving, and colleagues on gift pipeline development.
• Drive fundraising from high-end annual giving to major gifts with potential for principal-level opportunities.
• Develop annual work plans guided by metrics like discovery visits, meetings, dollars raised, strategies, solicitations, and proposals.
• Collaborate with Advancement staff to strengthen leadership annual giving and major gifts programs.
• Respond to donor inquiries and coordinate with Donor Relations to steward donors.
