Job summary

The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) is seeking a dedicated Major Gifts Officer to foster strong relationships with members and donors for our Donor Development Program. The Major Gifts Officer will manage 120–150 prospects, provide ongoing stewardship for assigned donors, and meet with long-time MNHS members to advance philanthropic goals while upholding MNHS’s mission and standards.

Candidates should bring six years of fundraising or sales experience, a Bachelor’s degree, and demonstrated

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience cultivating donors or major gifts.
• Six years of fundraising or sales experience in a moderately sized organization.
• Fundraising experience within a related non-profit environment.
• Demonstrated effectiveness working with donors.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google, and development software.

Responsibilities

• Manage 120 to 150 prospects in the Donor Development Program.
• Provide ongoing stewardship for assigned donors.
• Meet with assigned long-time MNHS members and donors.
