Job summary

Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society seeks a Major Gifts Officer to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors capable of significant philanthropic investments in our mission. The MGO will manage a portfolio of current and prospective major donors and build relationships that inspire long-term support.

The role acts as a key advisor to the Executive Team, helping secure leadership-level gifts, multi-year commitments, capital gifts, planned gifts, and special project funding

Qualifications

• Experience identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major donors (5- and 6-figure gifts).
• Ability to serve as advisor to the Executive Team and collaborate across departments to align donor interests with organizational priorities.
• Proven track record in major gifts fundraising and donor portfolio management.

The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors capable of making significant philanthropic investments in the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society's mission. The MGO manages a portfolio of current and prospective major donors, develops meaningful relationships that inspire long-term support, and collaborates across departments to align donor interests with organizational priorities.

Additional Areas of Responsibility:

This position serves as a key advisor to the Executive Team and plays a critical role in advancing the shelter's fundraising goals by securing leadership-level annual gifts, multi-year commitments, capital gifts, planned gifts, and special project funding.

Other Information/Requirements:

Must have strong emotional intelligence and solid demonstrated experience closing 5- and 6-figure gifts.
