Job summary

UPMC's Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation seeks an experienced development professional to build and manage donor relationships that drive major gifts and strategic initiatives. You will tailor donor strategies, collaborate with physicians and researchers, and ensure accurate data in Raiser's Edge in compliance with HIPAA policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, sales or related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in a nonprofit setting or in sales/marketing/communication.
  • Healthcare setting experience preferred; academic medical center experience desired.
  • Track record of securing major gifts from identification through solicitation.
  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge donor tracking software preferred.
  • CFRE credential preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, analytical and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to articulate the Hospital's mission, vision and priorities in writing and speech.
  • Act 31 / Act 33 / Act 34 / Act 73 certifications with renewal.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation in building relationships that generate significant philanthropic support.
  • Develop tailored prospect and donor-specific strategies to advance relationships and giving potential.
  • Collaborate across staff to provide excellent service to prospects, donors, medical and nursing staff and leadership.
  • Develop strong working relationships with clinical and research faculty.
  • Log all relationship information in Raiser's Edge in HIPAA-compliant manner.
  • Assure prompt gift acceptance, deposit, acknowledgement and recognition of gifts.
  • Demonstrate hospital values of integrity, care, balance, excellence, stewardship and teamwork.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the reporting manager.
  • Perform in line with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Represent the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation in building relationships with individuals that will generate significant philanthropic support for strategic initiatives to advance the Hospital's mission.

  • Develop tailored prospect and donor-specific strategies and tactics to advance the philanthropic relationship and giving potential.

  • Operate collaboratively and openly with a high attention to detail to provide excellent service to prospects, donors, medical and nursing staff and research faculty, Foundation and Hospital leadership.

  • Develop strong working relationships of trust and confidence with clinical and research faculty.

  • Log all relationship information in the Raisers Edge database in compliance with the Hospital's HIPPA policies.

  • Assure the prompt gift acceptance, deposit, acknowledgement and recognition of gifts.

  • Demonstrate through behavior hospital's core values of integrity, care, balance, excellence, stewardship, and teamwork - (see institution's Performance Excellence Program information).

  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the reporting manager as they may arise.

  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, marketing, sales, business or related field required.

  • 5 - 8 years of experience in a non-profit setting preferred; or experience in sales, marketing and communication in the for-profit environment.

  • Experience in a health care setting preferred; experience in an academic medical center desired.

  • A track record of securing major gifts from identification through cultivation and solicitation preferred.

  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge donor tracking software preferred.

  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written communication skills and the ability to work with many different people such as donors, volunteers, trustees and staff.

  • Must be very organized, analytical and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Must be knowledgeable about and capable of articulating verbally and in writing the Hospital's mission, vision and priorities.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 31 / Act 33 / Act 34 / Act 73 with renewal
