Aid to the Church in Need – USA (ACNUSA) is a growing 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, New York. ACNUSA is a Catholic non-profit organization under the auspices of the Vatican. ACNUSA raises funds to support and promote the work of the Church around the world, providing practical assistance and pastoral care to persons in need, especially Christians suffering persecution or discrimination. www.churchinneed.org

Areas of Responsibility include, but are not limited to:

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for major donor individual giving, foundation grant seeking, and corporate giving. They will build and refine the donor pipeline, cultivate relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporations, and ensure excellence in donor stewardship and record-keeping, aligning fundraising goals with the organization's mission to support the suffering Church worldwide.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with consultants’ major giving initiatives.
  • Set yearly goals for major giving initiatives.
  • Strengthen and expand the fundraising pipeline for individual, corporate, and institutional donors.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and/or National Director to identify new funding opportunities and optimize existing partnerships.
  • Contribute to additional development initiatives as needed.

Foundation and Corporate Engagement

  • Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities aligned with ACNUSA’s mission.
  • Oversee grant proposal lifecycle, including preparation, submission, and reporting.
  • Build and manage corporate giving programs, including sponsorships, volunteer initiatives, and employee giving campaigns.

Major Donor Development

  • Develop and execute initiatives to attract and retain high-net-worth donors, focusing on personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans.
  • Collaborate with the National Director to cultivate personalized relationships with major donors.
  • Coordinate productions and mailing of seasonal appeal letters and acknowledgements.

Data Management and Donor Stewardship

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of major donor records and engagements.
  • Implement best practices for donor acknowledgment, recognition, and ongoing engagement.

Event Collaboration and Support

  • Support fundraising events to enhance donor cultivation and sponsorship outreach.
  • Coordinate post-event donor engagement to ensure ongoing support.

Grant Management and Compliance

  • Oversee grant support documents to ensure compliance and maintain a detailed grant calendar.
  • Work with internal teams to prepare, review, and submit grant applications and reports timely.
  • Maintain a library of grant documents, including financial statements, IRS forms, audit letters, and lists of board members, staff, and major donors.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align fundraising efforts.
  • Reconcile donations monthly with the Finance Department.
  • Prepare Board presentations and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years in nonprofit fundraising, with success in securing foundation grants, cultivating major donors, and managing corporate sponsorships.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Proficiency in nonprofit CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud) and fundraising analytics.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for the Catholic faith and the mission of ACNUSA.
  • Commitment to serving donors.

Physical Requirements

  • Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support projects and meet with donors.
  • Administrative: Operation of standard office equipment.
  • Communication: Effective oral and written communication with colleagues and donors.

The position requires on-site presence 4 days a week, with flexibility for remote work on the remaining day. Policies may change.

Compensation and Hours

Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000/year

Benefits: Health, dental, vision, life insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k); employer covers health benefits.

Full-time (40 hours/week), immediate start. Typical hours: Mon-Fri, 9am–5pm, with occasional evening/weekend events.
