Job summary

Cal Performances at the University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Leadership Giving Officer to manage a portfolio of donors capable of gifts at the six-figure level and to develop strategies that secure major gifts in support of Cal Performances’ mission. You will collaborate with a 9-person development team and engage in events, proposals, and donor stewardship.

The role requires 5+ years in fundraising, advanced communication skills, and a deep enthusiasm for the performing arts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in major or individual giving with fundraising experience.
• Advanced knowledge of fundraising, events, and donor relations.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to meet fundraising goals through planning and execution.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Knowledge of applicable philanthropy policies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a portfolio of ~150 donors capable of $100k+ gifts.
• Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects with tailored experiences.
• Evaluate fundraising approaches using prospect research and capacity data.
• Collaborate with staff to bring new donors into the pipeline via discovery and cultivation.
• Write proposals and solicit gifts with senior staff and key volunteers.
• Manage relationships with major donors and primary managers.
• Develop and execute long/short-term strategies to secure major gifts.
• Attend performances and related events to cultivate and steward donors.
