Job summary

The Arc of Palm Beach County Inc. seeks a Major Gifts Director to secure significant philanthropic support and grow a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects in Palm Beach County.

You will cultivate relationships, craft compelling proposals, and collaborate with the executive team to meet fundraising goals. You’ll manage donor communications, maintain accurate CRM records, and coordinate engagement events while driving impact for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with demonstrated success in securing major gifts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor databases/CRM systems.
• Must possess and maintain a Florida driver’s license and auto insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects with gifts of $10,000 and above.

Position Summary:

The Major Gifts Officer plays a vital role in advancing the mission of The Arc of Palm Beach County by securing significant philanthropic support from individuals, families, and community partners. This position is responsible for building and managing a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, cultivating meaningful relationships, and inspiring investment in programs that empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not directly supervise team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Donor Cultivation & Relationship Management

• Manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, with a focus on gifts of $10,000 and above.
• Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
• Build and maintain strong, mission-centered relationships through personalized outreach, meetings, and engagement opportunities.
• Serve as a key ambassador of The Arc, effectively communicating its impact and programs.
• Maintain accurate and detailed donor records in the organization’s CRM system.
• Meet or exceed annual major gift fundraising goals.
• Identify, research, and qualify new major gift prospects within Palm Beach County and surrounding communities.
• Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and funding opportunities aligned with The Arc’s strategic priorities.
• Partner with executive leadership and board members to support donor engagement and solicitation efforts.

Stewardship & Donor Experience

• Ensure timely acknowledgment and recognition of all major gifts.
• Develop and implement thoughtful stewardship plans to enhance donor retention and long-term engagement.
• Coordinate donor visits, program tours, and engagement events to demonstrate impact.
• Provide regular updates and impact reports to donors.

Strategic Collaboration

• Collaborate with CEO/CAO to align major gift strategies with annual fundraising goals and campaigns.
• Work closely with program staff to understand funding needs and translate them into meaningful donor opportunities.
• Support organizational events, campaigns, and initiatives that enhance donor engagement.

Reporting & Administration

• Track and report progress toward fundraising goals and key performance metrics.
• Maintain a robust pipeline of prospects and document all donor interactions.
• Ensure compliance with ethical fundraising standards and organizational policies.
• Other projects duties as assigned by the CEO.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with demonstrated success in securing major gifts.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and donor databases/CRM systems.
• Must possess and maintain a current Florida’s Driver’s License and state minimum requirements for auto insurance.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Regularly walk, sit, stand reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
• Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and lift and/or carry office equipment, and boxes up to 20 pounds.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for donor meetings and events.
• Local travel within Palm Beach County and surrounding areas required.
• Ability to attend meetings, events, and site visits, including standing and walking for extended periods as needed.
• Primary working conditions are typical for an indoor/office environment requiring sitting for an extended period of time; frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
