Job summary

The Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) development team at the University of Minnesota Foundation is a high-performing fundraising group driving major gifts and donor engagement to support ICA priorities.

The Development Officer role partners with the ICA Development Director to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, translating academic goals into fundable initiatives and managing a blended portfolio for impactful philanthropy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of fundraising or related experience.
• Ability to lead with an entrepreneurial spirit, constantly pursuing solutions and effective/efficient enhancements.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work occasional evenings and weekends. Valid Minnesota driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Engage in face-to-face donor work to advance gift conversations and ensure a gratifying donor experience.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a balanced major gift prospect portfolio.
• Serve as philanthropic advisor to donors, translating academic priorities into fundable initiatives.
• Develop blended portfolios to drive big idea gift opportunities beyond unit priorities.
• Assist with fundraising initiatives and align with Foundation standards and vision.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines on donor strategies and reporting.
• Maintain a thorough working knowledge of unit priorities and lead fundraising projects.
