Job summary

The University of Minnesota Foundation seeks a Development Officer to drive philanthropic growth for the Carlson School of Management. You will lead donor conversations, manage a major gifts portfolio, and translate university priorities into fundable initiatives.

Reporting to CSOM leadership, you will collaborate across teams, deliver timely reports, and travel as needed while advancing UMF's mission and standards in a donor-centric fundraising environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of fundraising or related experience.
  • Ability to lead with an entrepreneurial spirit, pursuing solutions and improvements.
  • Accountability paired with empathetic mentorship and guidance.
  • Strong understanding of goal-setting frameworks and performance metrics.
  • Growth mindset across all deliverables and initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends; valid Minnesota driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in face-to-face donor work to advance gift conversations and donor experience.
  • Actively identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a balanced major gift portfolio.
  • Translate academic priorities into compelling, fundable initiatives as a philanthropic advisor.
  • Develop blended portfolios to create 大 opportunities alongside core priorities.
  • Support operational fundraising frameworks and maintain accurate reports for the team.
  • Collaborate across disciplines on donor strategies and communications.
  • Deliver high-quality, timely work consistent with UMF standards and vision.
  • Manage specific fundraising projects as assigned.
