Job summary

Knox College seeks a Development Officer to build and sustain donor relationships and drive major gifts initiatives in a liberal arts context. The role focuses on a portfolio of donors and strategic campaigns to advance the College’s priorities.

Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, you will manage gifts over $25,000, conduct in-person visits, and collaborate with leadership and volunteers to grow philanthropic revenue and support Knox’s mission.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree and 3+ years of full-time professional experience.
• Experience in higher education or with a liberal arts institution is a plus.
• Ability to solicit significant financial gifts and persist with donor prospects.
• Ability to make independent decisions and coordinate fundraising projects.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; organizational and collaboration abilities.
• Must have a valid driver\\'s license.

Responsibilities

• Qualify and cultivate donor prospects, solicit and close gifts of $25,000 and up.
• Complete ~250 cultivation/solicitation steps per year, including 125 in-person visits.
• Manage a portfolio of 120-140 major gift prospects with regular donor contact.
• Identify ways to increase donor involvement and provide stewardship.
• Prepare timely reports, acknowledgments, and proposals.
• Collaborate with Advancement and College leadership on events and campaigns.
• Develop knowledge of planned giving vehicles.
• Support College leadership in donor connections and solicitations.
• Coordinate with volunteers on communications and events.
• Assist with Advancement events and special projects.
