Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL seeks a Development Associate to support the major gifts team. You will work with gift officers on pipeline strategies, draft donor communications, and help prepare monthly and event-related reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications-related, marketing or fundraising major.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Strong written and verbal communications skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential support to the major gift officers for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts.
• Work with frontline fundraisers on pipeline development/solicitation strategies; assist with prospect identification.
• Conduct basic research and prospect identification tasks requested by gift officers.
• Draft correspondence to donors and prospects including acknowledgement letters and editing assistance for stewardship reports and proposals.
• Assist with monthly reporting to physicians, researchers, and other stakeholders; prepare and distribute reports.
• Schedule meetings between gift officers and institutional leadership; maintain relationships with administrative staff.
• Serve as liaison for gift transmittal to Development Operations; prepare documentation and forms.
• Assist with giving reports, prospect lists, and solicitation materials; run Power BI and Advance database reports.
• Collaborate with prospect management and events teams for post-event data on attendees; attend events occasionally.
• Develop understanding of Rush priorities to assist with cultivation of major gift prospects.
• Provide donor assistance as needed; handle special projects.
• Perform administrative duties (copying, mailing, filing, answering phones) and support other development assistants.
