Johnson Controls is seeking a Construction Project Manager to lead high-value mechanical projects in the Northern, CA Area. - Oversee multiple intricate mechanical construction projects, each exceeding $1M in value

How You’ll Get It Done

  • Serve as the internal lead, coordinating cross-functional teams for successful project execution

  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery

  • Support engineers in evaluating scope changes and client-issued directives

  • Pursue additional work opportunities through change orders and negotiate settlements

  • Manage HVAC mechanics, subcontractors, procurement schedules, and material delivery

  • Handle cost estimation, project billings, collections, and profitability tracking

  • Ensure compliance with contracts, specifications, codes, and company standards

  • Identify and mitigate risks, resolve disputes, and lead recovery planning if needed

  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and partners

  • Oversee documentation, subcontracts, progress reporting, and product issue resolution

  • Coordinate with internal teams for resources, engineering, commissioning, and training

  • For select bundled projects, self-perform estimating, scheduling, and vendor strategy

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Willingness to obtain PMP certification within 2 years

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills; able to explain technical concepts clearly

  • Proficient with project management and financial tools

  • Skilled in MS Office, Adobe, Visio, and Windows-based systems

  • Flexibility to travel based on project needs

Preferred

  • 5+ years of project management experience in building construction

  • Background in Mechanical Retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS, Fire/Security systems

  • Strong candidates may include service techs and pipe fitter leads
