Job summary

Twin Falls County is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support the upkeep of the fairgrounds, buildings, and outdoor spaces. The role includes grounds care, equipment operation, event setup, and regular maintenance activities.

You will help prepare facilities for the annual Fair & Rodeo and other events, ensuring safety and cleanliness. The position may require evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on event schedules.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of buildings, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
  • Assist with mowing, trimming, weed control, irrigation, snow removal, and general grounds maintenance as needed.
  • Set up and tear down tables, chairs, fencing, bleachers, stages, equipment, and other items for events and rentals.
  • Assist with preparing the fairgrounds for the annual Twin Falls County Fair & Rodeo and other major events.
  • Assist with cleanup before, during, and after events.
  • Safely operate and maintain a variety of fairgrounds vehicles and equipment, including water trucks, telehandlers, lifts, tractors, mowers, and other maintenance and grounds equipment.
  • Use equipment to assist with facility maintenance, grounds upkeep, event setup and teardown, material handling, watering and dust control, and other fairgrounds operations.
  • Perform routine pre-operation inspections and basic preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain maintenance equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment as assigned.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, safety hazards, and property damage to the Fair Manager or designated supervisor.
  • Follow all required safety procedures and manufacturer operating guidelines when operating vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist with trash removal and maintaining dumpsters and waste disposal areas.
  • Maintain an organized maintenance shop, storage areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with the care and maintenance of livestock and animal areas when necessary.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Assist other fairgrounds staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the operation of the Twin Falls County Fair & Rodeo.

CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for assisting with the general maintenance, repair, upkeep, and cleanliness of the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds and its facilities. This position plays an important role in ensuring that the fairgrounds, buildings, equipment, grounds, and event areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and functional condition throughout the year. The Maintenance Worker will assist with preparing the facilities and grounds for the annual fair, rodeos, rentals, special events, and other activities held on the fairgrounds.


Work Schedule

This position may require a flexible work schedule. Evening, weekends, holiday, and overtime hours may be required based on facility needs, scheduled events, and the annual Twin Falls County Fair & Rodeo.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • General knowledge of building and grounds maintenance.

  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general repair work.

  • Ability to safely operate or willingness to be trained to operate equipment such as water trucks, telehandlers, aerial lifts, tractors, mowers, and other grounds and maintenance equipment.

  • Ability to safely load, transport, and move materials and equipment as necessary.

  • Knowledge of basic equipment inspections, maintenance, and safe operating procedures.

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lawn and grounds equipment, and other maintenance equipment.

  • Ability to identify maintenance and safety concerns and report them appropriately.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Good organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff, vendors, renters, contractors, and the public.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude.


Physical Requirements


  • Perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time.

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive movements.

  • Lift and carry materials, equipment, and supplies.

  • Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Work around livestock, crowds, equipment, noise, dust, and other conditions associated with a fairgrounds and event facility.

  • Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required, particularly during the annual fair and other major events.

  • Ability to lift more than 50lbs


Minimum Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous experience in general maintenance, construction, groundskeeping, facilities maintenance, or a related field preferred.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet insurance requirements.

  • Experience operating maintenance or grounds equipment preferred.

  • Ability to pass any required background checks or other employment requirements.
