Job summary

The Navy Inn in Fallon, NV, operated by the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM), is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support the Naval community with basic plumbing, HVAC and general maintenance tasks. The role is on-site at Fallon, within a federal lodging facility serving service members and families.

Candidates should have at least three years of maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Three years of general maintenance experience across trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting).
• One year of experience in upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, and equipment.
• Specialized knowledge of safety and environmental regulations applicable to maintenance work.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, climb and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic plumbing repairs.
• Conduct routine maintenance on washers and dryers.
• Maintain HVAC systems.
• Support on-site facilities and equipment.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE

One year of experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of general maintenance practices involving the upkeep of buildings grounds fixtures equipment etc.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE

One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

Three years of general maintenance work in involving variety of trade practices associated with such occupations as air conditioning and refrigeration electrical work plumbing carpentry masonry and painting etc. Including knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures tools mechanical and electrified equipment chemicals and basic safe work practices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing stooping bending kneeling climbing and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 50 pounds. A recognized professional certification or license in one trade plumbing HVAC electrical carpentry or painting trade is preferred.
