Job Description: City Infrastructure Maintenance Worker
Performs intermediate work repairing and maintaining the City's infrastructure of sewer lines, lift stations, water lines, and streets in a manner that helps ensure uninterrupted services to New Brighton residential and commercial property owners. Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in repair of sewer lines including daily checks of lift stations.
- Operates camera jetting equipment, raises or lowers manholes, cleans storm sewer catch basins; assists in inspections, maintenance, and repairs of storm sewer lines and manholes.
- Maintains the flow of water to property owners, monitors pumps and reservoirs, checks water quality, balances water with chemicals, conducts hydrant flushing, connects or disconnects water supplies for contractors and homeowners as needed, repairs water equipment, performs valve exercise and maintenance, and raises or lowers valve boxes, hydrants, and stand pipes.
- Patches and repairs city streets with hot and cold mix as needed, installs and repairs street and informational signs.
- Operates snow plow equipment for snow removal, operates street sweeping equipment, and performs repairs to curbs, gutters, mailboxes, and landscaping damaged by snow plowing.
- Operates various equipment including backhoe, paver, tar kettle, bobcat, dump truck, and others; reads maps and uses water testing equipment.
- Performs custodial duties at maintenance and City buildings as requested.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
