Duties
- Performs minor grounds maintenance to include ensuring entrances and exits are free from debris, sidewalks are clear of ice/snow, and surfaces under playground structures are maintained according to safety requirements.
- Performs a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities.
- Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis. Documents all drills in writing.
- Notifies supervisor of hazards, malfunctioning equipment, damaged materials, and other situations impacting work operations.
- Works both indoors and outdoors, drives outside in all weather conditions within a military installation, and may work in a kitchen setting exposed to cuts, dirt, and fumes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of appointment.
- Requires direct deposit setup and a Social Security Card.
- Meets qualification, eligibility, physical, and background requirements for this position.
- Must have a current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and up-to-date immunizations, including annual influenza vaccination.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Must complete annual training requirements and demonstrate on-the-job competence.
- Must pass employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Work schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and weekends, with duties performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.
- Requires physical effort such as reaching, bending, lifting (up to 40 pounds frequently), and possibly heavier items with assistance.
- Mandatory drug testing is required.
- Subject to pre-employment checks including Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Experience performing duties similar to those described.
- Valid state driver’s license (or CDL if operating larger passenger vehicles).
