Job description

This position is located at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA.

Duties

1. Performs minor grounds maintenance to include ensuring entrances and exits are free from debris, sidewalks are clear of ice/snow, and surfaces under playground structures are maintained according to safety requirements.
2. Performs a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities.
3. Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis. Documents all drills in writing.
4. Notifies supervisor of hazards, malfunctioning equipment, damaged materials, and other situations impacting work operations.
5. Works both indoors and outdoors, drives outside in all weather conditions within a military installation, and may work in a kitchen setting exposed to cuts, dirt, and fumes.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. Must be at least 18 years old at the time of appointment.
2. Requires direct deposit setup and a Social Security Card.
3. Meets qualification, eligibility, physical, and background requirements for this position.
4. Must have a current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and up-to-date immunizations, including annual influenza vaccination.
5. A one-year probationary period may be required.
6. Must complete annual training requirements and demonstrate on-the-job competence.
7. Must pass employment verification (E-Verify) check.
8. Work schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and weekends, with duties performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.
9. Requires physical effort such as reaching, bending, lifting (up to 40 pounds frequently), and possibly heavier items with assistance.
10. Mandatory drug testing is required.
11. Subject to pre-employment checks including Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Ability to communicate effectively in English.
3. Experience performing duties similar to those described.
4. Valid state driver’s license (or CDL if operating larger passenger vehicles).
