Job description

This temporary position is located in the Gettysburg National Military Park's Maintenance Division under the Landscape Preservation Branch, which maintains and preserves the cultural landscapes of Gettysburg National Military Park and Eisenhower National Historic Site. The position serves as a working leader over a crew that performs seasonal work such as mowing, trimming, tree care/removal, trail maintenance, roadway maintenance, fence construction and repair, and volunteer projects.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  1. Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (including blueprints reading)
  2. Ability To Lead Or Supervise
  3. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  4. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  5. Knowledge of Materials
  6. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  7. Use of Measuring Instruments

SCREEN OUT: Possesses the ability to lead or supervise, performing the full range of duties of a Maintenance Worker Leader, WL-4749-05, and has the knowledge and experience to independently lead a crew in various landscape preservation tasks, including:

  • Operation of landscape equipment, trucks, trailers, and tractors
  • Trail maintenance
  • Fence repair and construction
  • Tree removal
  • Construction projects
  • Leading a work crew
