Volunteers of America–Greater New York is seeking a Maintenance Worker III (Super) to oversee building maintenance at Stockholm Family Residence in Brooklyn. The role requires supervising staff, planning preventive maintenance, and ensuring fire safety systems are up to date.

You will respond to emergencies, manage work orders and budgets, and coordinate with regulatory inspections. Strong leadership, attention to detail, and experience in supervisory roles are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with at least three years of related maintenance experience and one year of supervisory experience.
• Basic computer skills and ability to manage work orders.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train and supervise maintenance staff.
• Prepare a preventative maintenance plan including fire safety and OSHA requirements.
• Manage work orders and track property maintenance, inventory, and purchases.
• Respond to emergency calls after hours.
• Assist in preparation of capital budget.
• Ensure regulatory inspections are completed and filed.

Position: Maintenance III (Super)

The Maintenance Worker III (Super) is responsible for the overall maintenance of the facility. This role must be available for emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma and three years related experience in building maintenance with one year of supervisory experience; or satisfactory combination of related experience and specialized education or training. Basic computer skills.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

• S-12: City Wide Sprinkler Systems / S-11 Residential Sprinkler Systems
• S-13: City Wide Standpipe Systems
• S-95: Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems and other related systems
• P-98: Fuel-oil Piping and Storage Systems
• F-80: Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters
• Certifications must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.

Maintenance III Principal Responsibilities

• Recruit, train and supervise maintenance staff.

• Manage work orders.
• Track property maintenance, work orders, inventory, and purchases in computerized maintenance system.
• Respond to emergency calls outside regular work hours.
