Job summary

The City of Lancaster is seeking a full-time Grounds Maintenance Officer to maintain grounds, highways, municipal and rural roads, and rights-of-way under supervision. CDL Class A is required for driving duties and routine code compliance inspections of various properties will be conducted.

Responsibilities include operating trucks, collecting litter, monitoring dumping sites, and reporting issues to supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid State Class A CDL is required; driving is a core duty.

Responsibilities

• Walks and/or drives vehicles to assigned route and picks up litter and debris.
• Maintains the City right-of-way by removing litter and illegally dumped items.
• Regularly monitors areas known for illegal dumping.
• Drives truck and trailer to transport illegal dumping and equipment to worksite.
• Removes debris caused by extreme weather conditions.
• Disposes of litter and debris appropriately.
• Interacts with citizens and employees regarding problems/concerns and reports feedback to supervisor.
• Performs additional general maintenance or grounds keeping activities as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
• Performs a variety of code compliance inspections including residential, commercial and industrial property and drive to and from destinations assigned by supervisor.
• Removes illegal signs.
